Pyxl “steps out” to raise money for diabetes
On Saturday, the Pyxl team took part in the StepOut: Walk to Fight Diabetes event at Concord Park in Farragut. The Pyxl team was out in full-force and wearing our new Pyxl t-shirts to support the cause and support our team members who have diabetes.
The weather was a bit chilly Saturday morning, but there was a great turnout for the event and lots of people there doing their part to raise money for diabetes research and community support. We heard about the event a little late, but in the day and half we had to raise funds, the Pyxl team raised nearly $1,000 dollars for the cause and had a great time walking with the other teams and their dogs. (It definitely made me think Pyxl might need to get an office pet to help compete in the canine division!)
With over 23 million diabetics in the US and that number expected to grow in the coming years, we were happy to do our part in helping to raise money and awareness for this disease that affects so many. At Pyxl, myself and Kervie are diabetics, so it was great to have our friends and family turn out for the event and support us as we met lots
of great people and enjoyed the walk at the park.
Even with the good time and fun we had on the walk, the important thing to remember is that diabetes is a manageable disease and there is no reason diabetics can’t live a full and healthy life.
