We've put together a photo tour of the space, along with more information on the partners that made it all possible. Located at 2099 Thunderhead Road, the innovative design was created within the conventional leased office space of Northshore Town Center and features eco-friendly elements and décor purchased from Knoxville-area vendors.

 

Pyxl has come a long way in the past few years. What was once a traditional advertising agency is now a full-service, innovative digital marketing firm driven by a young, creative staff. So when the time came to design our office, we knew the space had to match the mindset of those that would be working inside it. Our workspace is open to inspire teamwork and fuel creativity while still supporting the local economy and remaining environmentally conscious.

 

How are we green?

As a company that has been virtually paperless for years, it was important for us to create a responsible workspace to mirror our environmentally conscious business practices. The space, which is eco-friendly by design, also supports the local economy by using furnishings provided by Knoxville-area businesses and artists. By using products from reclaimed and sustainable hardwoods, soy-based fabrics and organic materials, the space maintains its esthetic beauty without losing its environmental edge. Here are a few more ways we're green:

  • All of our walls are painted with low VOC paint.
  • Recycled metal, including scrap metal, is also used in much of our furniture.
  • The grass-like rug in our waiting area is actually made of recycled tires.
  • Housing live plants in a large sustainable planter keeps the office air fresh and removes toxins from it.

The space, which is eco-friendly by design, supports the local economy by using furnishings and materials provided by Knoxville-area businesses and artists.

To match its eco-conscious business practices, Pyxl's kitchen features energy-efficient appliances and rapidly renewable materials such as bamboo.

The space features a "calming area" with a water feature made from natural slate and a large sustainable planter housing trees and green plants.

The space was designed to cater to Pyxl's young, mobile workforce and features numerous laptop stations and collaboration areas.

Pyxl's open floor plan inspires teamwork and fuels creativity.

The office features furnishings made from reclaimed and sustainable hardwoods and other recycled materials.

Each personalized office continues the environmentally-conscious theme, with items such as this side table made of reclaimed wood and scrap metal.

With an overall eco-friendly vibe, much of the décor in Pyxl's office is made from reclaimed and sustainable hardwoods, soy-based fabrics and organic materials.

R2R Studio

Pyxl and R2R studio joined their efforts in 2009 to create Pyxl's new dynamic office space. R2R studio, an architectural design firm located in Knoxville, Tennessee, worked closely with Pyxl's team to create a fresh and inspiring environment to call home.

Buy The Room

Buy the Room, LLC is a small design and décor firm lead by not your typical "by the hour" designer, Paige Stephens. Teaming up with Buy the Room, Pyxl was able to achieve an environmentally friendly vibe and a responsible space to mirror its eco-conscious business practices.

Jim McMichael Signs & Truck Painting

Pyxl contracted Jim McMichael Signs & Truck Painting to fabricate a special three-dimensional logo to be mounted on a curved office wall. The logo was routed out of high-density urethane foam with numerous different stages, painted and installed.

Tiffany Suzzanne Photography

All of the black and white framed art displayed within Pyxl's space is the work of Tiffany Suzzanne, who was contracted to take photos of historic buildings in Knoxville that have been recycled and renovated throughout the years.

Bliss Home

A local furniture store known for using recycled materials, Bliss Home is the main provider of furniture and décor in Pyxl's office, supplying products from reclaimed and sustainable hardwoods, soy-based fabrics and organic materials.

Stefanie Houser

Stefanie teamed up with Pyxl to plan its eco-friendly open house events. By using organic meats, farm stand produce and locally produced cheeses, Stefanie was able to create the environmentally friendly receptions Pyxl desired.
