Josh Phillips

Brian Winter

Brian is the Founder of Pyxl, where he has been focused on using his experience in digital marketing to advise the Pyxl team. He is an experienced sales and marketing executive that has turned around global sales and marketing teams for Fortune 500 companies as well as built sales and marketing teams for venture-backed technology start-ups.


A California-native, Brian previously served as Vice President, Global Virtualization Software Sales at Sun Microsystems, a $20 billion Fortune 500 information technology company. He was also Vice President, Services Marketing at Sun Microsystems. Prior to Sun Microsystems, Brian oversaw sales and marketing at venture-backed SevenSpace, and prior to that he served in various senior marketing and management roles at USWeb Corporation.

Brian is actively involved in the technology community and participates as an investor and advisor to technology companies and emerging businesses including Board-level participation and CEO advisory services. He has also acted as a spokesperson in the high technology industry and has presented on a wide variety of information technology-related topics in over 20 countries worldwide.


Brian resides in Knoxville with his wife Courtney, their three daughters, Riley, Hannah and Campbell and their Weimaraner, Sugar. He is an avid runner and enjoys combining his running interests with traveling. Brian has had the opportunity to travel and run at some amazing venues worldwide including the Great Wall of China. He has completed 13 marathons in 10 states and is focused on reaching his goal of running a marathon in all 50 states.

Josh Phillips

Josh Phillips

Bio

Josh is the President of Pyxl, where he oversees day-to-day operations while also leading strategy and campaign management (among many other things). He is a Michigan native transplanted to Tennessee where he stayed after graduating from Maryville College with degrees in International Business and Political Science. Prior to joining the Pyxl team, Josh led a number of international engagements throughout North America, Europe, Asia and Australia, exploring a variety of fields - from research to program development and strategy work.

Q & A

What's your favorite social network and why? Twitter. It's easy to access, easy to search, and you can do it on the spur of the moment. It has a clean interface, and most of all, you can learn a lot on it.


When you're not at Pyxl, where can we find you? At home cooking or watching a movie. On the best of nights it starts with cooking and ends with watching a movie.


What's your favorite food? Caesar salad with grilled salmon on top or bruschetta...maybe both.


What's your favorite city and why? Luzern, Switzerland. It has gorgeous views, good restaurants and shopping, but it is a place you can visit, relax and not feel like you are in a rush to get somewhere and do something.


What's something people may not know about you? I have been to every continent but Antarctica - but want to get there as well.


Kervie Mata

Bio

Kervie is Pyxl's Art Director, where he handles all senior-level design work. As a cross-media artist, Kervie has brought a diverse style to our print and digital projects. After graduating from West Virginia University with a BFA in Graphic Design, Kervie joined Blaine Turner Advertising, Inc. in Morgantown, WV as the head publication and concept designer for West Virginia University Athletics. His work won awards from the College Sports Information Directors of America (COSIDA) for multiple sports publications. Kervie has also garnered Addy Awards for his work with Bobcat of Knoxville and The University of Tennessee Bands. Recently, his logo designs were selected to be a part of Logo Lounge's Master Library Series, an international publication featuring the world's best logo designs.

When you're not at Pyxl, where can we find you? Spending time with family and friends.


What's your favorite food? Brownies.


What's your favorite city and why? Morgantown, WV. Nothing beats waking up to the football game day atmosphere.


What's something people may not know about you? I was a drummer for a punk band called Fido.


Nicole Vanscoten

Bio

Nicole is the public relations specialist at Pyxl, where she handles all PR initiatives and event planning. She is a New Jersey-native and a University of Tennessee graduate, where she majored in Public Relations and minored in Psychology. Prior to joining Pyxl, Nicole has worked at Ackermann PR. She also co-founded the Knoxville Chapter of the Social Media Club, and currently leads the planning committee. In her spare time, Nicole also runs the blog, PRetty Social, where she writes on PR and social media.

What's your favorite social network and why? Twitter! (I'm addicted) It's such a useful tool for finding information and interesting articles. Plus, I'm able to network with PR pros all over the country through Twitter.


When you're not at Pyxl, where can we find you? On a nice day, hopefully at the lake or by the pool. Otherwise, relaxing at home with my boyfriend Michael and our two loving pit bulls, Diesel and Link.


What's your favorite food? Either Italian food or sushi... it's a toss up!


What's your favorite city and why? NYC - because it's the best city in the world! And because its one of the only things I really miss about living in Jersey.


What's something people may not know about you? Through high school, I was a hair model.

Bio

Brenna is the social media specialist at Pyxl, where she teaches clients how to harness the power of social networking to engage and interact with customers. Brenna is a Chicago-native and a University of Tennessee graduate with a degree in Business Administration and a concentration in Marketing. Brenna is also an active member of the Knoxville community and a co-founder of the Knoxville Chapter of the Social Media Club.

What's your favorite social network and why? Twitter, because it is a great resource to find interesting articles and network with people from all around the world. It is also pretty cool to read about things that are happening across the world from first-hand accounts.


When you're not at Pyxl, where can we find you? Somewhere outside. Just yodel and I'll come running.


What's your favorite food? Pasta. All kinds: rigatoni, spaghetti, gnocchi, mastacholli, cavatelli, lasagna, ravioli, tortellini....


What's your favorite city and why? Chicago because its home.


What's something people may not know about you? I built a time machine and enjoy traveling to June 12, 1995.

Bio

Creed is the technology lead at Pyxl, where he handles all web development and manages our technical setup. He began doing freelance web design while in high school and studied both Computer Science and Psychology at the University of Tennessee. Before joining the Pyxl team, Creed worked at U30 Group, Inc., where he programmed and developed platforms for online communities for the purpose of market research. Creed has played a major part in many consumer insights research projects for companies such as Coca Cola, Starbucks, Nike, ESPN, and MillerCoors.

What's your favorite social network and why? Stumbleupon, because searching the internet for fun takes mental energy you just don't have to waste!


When you're not at Pyxl, where can we find you? Hanging out with friends, on the lake, watching sports, by a grill, playing some kind of game - or all of these at the same time.


What's your favorite food? Chicken wings or anything with buffalo sauce.


What's your favorite city and why? Savannah, GA - It's where I was born! Plus I like Spanish moss and the beach.


What's something people may not know about you? I am extremely afraid of fish, but really into SCUBA.


Franny Priestley

Franny Priestley

Bio

Franny is the Junior Graphic Designer at Pyxl. As the newest addition to the team, Franny brings a fresh approach to our Design and Development department. She graduated from Pellissippi State Technical Community College with a Degree in Communication Graphics Technology. Previously she worked with the Marketing and Communications department of the University of Tennessee's Institute of Agriculture. Before arriving at Pyxl, Franny spent her time freelancing, producing an array of design projects from websites to wedding stationery to promotional campaigns. When she's not at Pyxl, Franny works closely with Volunteers for Christ, a church-based campus ministry on the campus of the University of Tennessee, providing volunteer design work to promote various speakers, series and events.

What's your favorite social network and why? Twitter. I find out about more design news and inspiration there than anywhere else.


When you're not at Pyxl, where can we find you? Most likely at Remedy Coffee in the Old City with some friends. Love that place!


What's your favorite food?Cottage cheese and pineapple. Best snack of all time.


What's your favorite city and why? Seattle. It's beautiful, coastal, bike-friendly and full of fun stuff to do!


What's something people may not know about you? I played the leading roles in all the musicals my high school put on. All evidence has been successfully destroyed.
